The Council hosted a speech by U.S. Secretary of State Clinton at the Singapore Management University unveiling the framework of U.S. economic statecraft. The audience of over 200 included U.S. and Singaporean business leaders, government officials and students. The event was co-hosted by the American Chamber of Commerce in Singapore. On October 27, the Council presented its first Lifetime Achievement Award to Minister Mentor Lee Kuan Yew of Singapore during a black-tie celebration of the Council's 25th anniversary held at the Mandarin Oriental hotel in Washington, D.C. Luminaries from the foreign policy, government, academic, and business communities gathered to honor both the Council and Minister Mentor Lee on their achievements.
