Bui Kim Thuy
Country Representative - Vietnam
Bui Kim Thuy joined the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) in March 2018 as the Country Representative for Viet Nam. Thuy served as the Deputy Director of the Agency for Foreign Trade in the Ministry of Industry and Trade (MOIT) for the previous 10 years, where she handled Free Trade Agreements (FTA) negotiations and rule-of-origin related issues. She is a key speaker in a series of seminars and workshops for trade-related agencies and the business community. Thuy is the only candidate from Viet Nam in 2013-2014 receiving the full scholarship for the Programme of MPM (Master of Public Management) – Senior Leadership in Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy (LKYSPP) - Singapore and Harvard Kennedy School – USA. She holds a bachelor’s degree in International Economics from the Diplomatic Academy of Viet Nam, Ministry of Foreign Affairs. Thuy is also a member of Harvard Business School - Asia Pacific Advisory Board (APAB) where she helps provide counsel on VN’s economic issues as well as mission, goals, objective and initiatives of Harvard in the region.
Being USABC Representative in Viet Nam Office, Thuy has been a helpful source for U.S. companies doing business in ASEAN/Viet Nam as well as for the public sector (including local Governments of VN) in the business-related-policy-making process; facilitating Viet Nam’s SMEs in joining regional/global value supply chain of leading MNCs in the era of digital transformation.
