Michaela Wong joined the Council in January 2019 as a Manager on the Indonesia, Financial Services and Customs portfolios. Previously, Michaela was a Fellow at McLarty Associates, supporting clients across a range of industries operating in South and Southeast Asia. She also interned in the DC headquarters of Bower Group Asia, a government relations and public policy consulting firm, where she worked with clients in the pharmaceutical, ICT, cybersecurity and telecommunications sectors. She brings experience in government from her role at the Australian Embassy in Washington, DC as part of the executive support team for the ambassador, as well as her work with the U.S. Embassy in Beijing.
Michaela graduated from Johns Hopkins School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in 2018, where she earned a degree in International Economics and Southeast Asia Studies. She received her BA in International Relations from the University of Richmond and participated in a one-year academic exchange in Hong Kong. Michaela is proficient in Bahasa Indonesian and has studied Mandarin Chinese.
