Shay Wester is a Director responsible for Customs, Financial Services, Food & Agriculture, Health & Life Science, ICT and TPP at the US-ASEAN Business Council in its regional headquarters in Singapore.
Prior to joining the Council in November 2012, Shay worked for several years in the U.S. Senate as a legislative assistant for Senator John Cornyn, and was responsible for providing policy analysis and advising on issues including foreign policy, economic development, aviation, transportation infrastructure, border security and customs, cybersecurity, and space policy. He also worked for the U.S. Trade Representative in the Office of Policy Coordination on the annual U.S. trade policy report to Congress, and for the Office of the Secretary of Defense.
Originally from Texas, Shay received his undergraduate degree in Economics and Political Science at Southern Methodist University. He also holds a Master’s Degree in International Relations and International Economics from the Johns Hopkins University School of Advanced International Studies (SAIS) in Washington D.C.
