Steven Gunawan is the Council's Country Representative for Indonesia. He joined the US-ASEAN Business Council’s Jakarta office in July 2018. He also covers the regional advocacy efforts for the Financial Services, Travel and Tourism portfolios. Prior to joining the Council, Steven worked as a strategy consultant at Deloitte Consulting and PwC's Strategy& (previously Booz and Company). His prior consulting engagements have included clients in the fields of financial services (banking and capital market), ICT, consumer business, energy and public sector. These have been in the areas of corporate strategy, go-to-market strategy and turnaround strategy.
Steven co-authored a Deloitte GovLab white paper on the Indonesian government’s performance in infrastructure development, public financial management and public-private partnerships. He also was an intern in US-ABC’s Jakarta office during the summer of 2016.
He holds a first class honours degree in Economics, Banking and Finance from Monash University and Public Policy Analysis certificate from LSE. During his free time, he volunteers as a high school math teacher at a non-profit organization. He also enjoys cultural exchanges and surfing.
