Tng Ying Hui

Tng Ying Hui joined the Council as an Associate in the Singapore office in September 2016. Previously, she worked at the Institute of Policy Studies at the Lee Kuan Yew School of Public Policy, where she wrote a book titled Not Born in Singapore, detailing the stories of 50 foreigners who have contributed to the country's success. She interviewed top names in the fields of Arts, Education, Science and Medicine, and Business. She also worked on projects related to Internet policies, broadcasting laws, and social media and politics.
Ying Hui graduated with a Master of Arts in International Studies from the Josef Korbel School of International Studies at the University of Denver where she was a Sié Fellow. Her thesis on Trade and Labour Standards in ASEAN explored the question: Will higher labour standards experience a lower level of exports?
Prior to graduate school, Ying Hui gained experience in business and financial news production with CNBC Asia at their Singapore headquarters. During her time with the channel's primetime show The Call and its weekend show Straight Talk that covers the headline news of the week, she produced interviews with business and political leaders such as Jim Rogers and Indonesian Vice President Jusuf Kalla.
Her writings have been published in Al Jazeera and Asian Correspondent. Ying Hui graduated from the National University of Singapore with a Political Science degree. She has a working knowledge of Bahasa Indonesia.
