To remain the best American regional trade association for our members, board and staff, tangibly making a positive difference to each of these groups.
To deliver tangible results that support our members’ business objectives by removing constraints on trade and investment activities in ASEAN, and elevating the importance of the US-ASEAN economic relationship to American and ASEAN public policy makers and business leaders.
Delivering proven business results in Southeast Asia
For over 30 years, the US-ASEAN Business Council has been the premier advocacy organization for U.S. corporations operating within the dynamic Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN), serving as the leading voice of the U.S. private sector in promoting mutually beneficial trade and investment relationships between the United States and Southeast Asia. ASEAN now represents more than 630 million people and a combined GDP of US $2.4 trillion across Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand and Vietnam. The Council's members include the largest U.S. companies working in ASEAN, and range from newcomers to the region to companies that have been working in Southeast Asia for a century or more.

Over the next decade, by virtue of its growing middle class, infrastructure development and strategic position at the center of Pacific trade routes, ASEAN's ten members will enjoy growth rates among the most robust in the world. With more than 65% of ASEAN’s population under the age of 35, ASEAN’s demographic trends will continue to fuel growth well into the future. The Council is convinced on strategic grounds that an effective alliance with ASEAN is central to the success of United States’ Asia-Pacific rebalancing strategy. America’s economic vitality depends on our success in the Asia-Pacific region, and ASEAN plays a central role.
The Council is the only U.S.-based organization recognized in the ASEAN charter as a supporting organization of ASEAN. In service of its members, the Council leads major business missions to key economies, convenes multiple meetings with ASEAN heads of state and ministers, and is the only U.S. organization to be given the privilege to raise member company concerns in consultations with the ASEAN Economic, Energy, Finance, and Forestry & Agriculture Ministers, as well as the ASEAN Customs Directors-General at their annual meetings.
