On Tuesday, the Health Ministries of both countries updated their Memorandum of Understanding on Health Cooperation. This will improve information sharing and expand collaboration into new areas, like non-communicable diseases and health promotion.

A recent agreement with the US could provide an extra boost to these efforts and encourage investors. In March 2013, the US Department of Energy deputy secretary, Daniel Poneman, and the Brunei Darussalam minister of energy, Mohammad Yasmin Umar, met at the Prime Minister’s office, with the officials proposing to set up a joint working group on renewable energy.

Brunei land optimization strategy for growth | SGS, May 2013
Brunei's Centre for Strategic and Policy Studies (CSPS) commissioned SGS to prepare a land optimisation strategy for industrial and commercial growth in Brunei Darussalam. The land optimisation strategy will determine industrial and commercial land use planning requirements for achieving economic diversification for Brunei over a long term period, to 2035 and beyond. The underlying goal is optimising land use to drive economic diversification, using the guiding principles of balanced and sustainable development in Brunei Darussalam.
