His Excellency Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng received his M.Phil-Social Anthropology from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a B.Sc Economics with Honors from the University of Swansea, Wales. He entered the Diplomatic Service Department in 1982 and served as the Director of Museums, before transferring to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs as Director of ASEAN-Brunei Darussalam.
His Excellency Pehin Dato Lim Jock Seng was appointed Brunei Darussalam’s High Commissioner to New Zealand in 1986. In 2003 he was appointed as a member of the Privy Council and in 2004 as an official member of the Legislative Council. On May 24, 2005 he was appointed by His Majesty Sultan Haji Hassanal Bolkiah Mu’izzaddin Waddaulah, Sultan and Yang Di-Pertuan Negara Brunei Darussalam as the Minister of Foreign Affairs II.
He went on to serve as the Chairman of Brunei Shell Petroleum Company Sendirian Berhad and the Chairman of the Board of Directors of Royal Brunei Airlines before being re-appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and Trade II.
