At the 2013 APEC Summit in Bali, Indonesia, country leaders and the APEC business group reiterated the need for building more infrastructure in the region to improve connectivity. The improved connectivity, according to Indonesian President Yudhyono, would help reduce production and transportation costs, strengthen supply chains, and improve the business climate in the region. The Asia-Pacific Region reportedly needs $8.3 trillion in improvements to infrastructure through 2020.
