Please note that this event is closed to Chairman's Council members or representatives who have received personal invitations.

The U.S. presidential election, on November 5, will set the trajectory of future U.S. engagement in Southeast Asia. The already historic election cycle has seen incumbent President Joe Biden step down from the Democratic presidential ticket, pitting Democratic Vice President Kamala Harris against Republican former President Donald Trump. Harris has expressed her commitment to continue the Biden administration’s policies, while Trump’s “America First” based approach to foreign and trade policy could see an overhaul of ties between the United States and Southeast Asia.

This roundtable will convene experts in U.S. politics and policy to discuss the significance and implications of the U.S. presidential election on international trade and commerce. Experts from both sides of the political aisle will share priorities and insights for each candidate's agendas. Joined by ASEAN Ambassadors and Embassy officials, this event aims to inform the audience of the political outlook of U.S. elections.

Confirmed speakers:

  • Tara Corrigan, Chief Operating Officer, The Messina Group and former Obama White House official
  • Ashley E. Davis, Founding Partner, West Front Strategies and former Bush administration official
