Jack Myint
Head of Communications and Public Affairs; Director Mainland Southeast Asia; Aerospace, Defense & Security
Hla Hpone “Jack” Myint is the Head of Communications and Public Affairs, and Director for Mainland Southeast Asia, as well as Aerospace, Defense, and Security at the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) headquarters, based in Washington, DC. Since joining USABC in March 2016, Jack has been instrumental in shaping the organization’s strategic initiatives and fostering key business and political relationships across both the United States and the ASEAN region.

Before his tenure at USABC, Jack was an Analyst at Inle Advisory Group, a Washington-based consultancy specializing in investment strategies in Myanmar. In this capacity, he provided high-level counsel on Myanmar’s political landscape and advised clients on managing risks related to the U.S. Treasury's Specially Designated Nationals (SDN) list.

Earlier in his career, Jack served as an Energy Policy Fellow with the Center for Energy Policy and Management in Southwestern Pennsylvania, funded by Consol Energy. Here, he was a member of the center’s government relations team, advancing policy research and advocacy on sustainable shale gas development. Jack’s professional experience also includes roles with the International Republican Institute’s Asia Division and as a staff assistant to a Member of the Pyithu Hluttaw (Lower House of Parliament), where he contributed to legislative efforts during Myanmar’s democratic transition. 

A respected voice on international affairs, Jack has written op-eds and provided commentary for leading publications and media outlets, including Al Jazeera, The Huffington Post, The Diplomat, Eurasia Review, Voice of America (VOA), BBC News, Radio Free Asia (RFA), Frontier Myanmar, CSIS, and the Stimson Center.

Currently, Jack is a Non-Resident Fellow for the Southeast Asia Program at the Center for Strategic and International Studies (CSIS) in Washington, DC. Previously, he was a Prospect Burma: Aung San Suu Kyi Nobel Peace Prize Fund Scholar and an Open Society Foundation Scholar. Jack earned a B.A. in Political Science and Conflict Resolution Studies (CRS) from Washington & Jefferson College, graduating at the top of his class in the CRS concentration.
