Brunei Darussalam, Cambodia, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Myanmar, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Timor-Leste, and Vietnam comprise the eleven nations of ASEAN.
President's Take
As we started the year, February looked like a “quiet” month in terms of major USABC business missions and activities. As you can see below, it was anything but. The highlight was our surprise February 18 three-hour business roundtable and gala dinner with Indonesian President Prabowo Subianto, who clearly relished interacting with US business leaders. And we heard he was very glad to sign the US-Indonesia Agreement on Reciprocal Trade (ART) in the White House the next day. On the trade and tariff front, we are still digesting the February 20 Supreme Court ruling invalidating the US Administration's IEEPA tariffs that underpin the ARTs.
Board Governance
Our Board is composed of a diverse and balanced group of leaders who possess the independence and expertise necessary to fulfill their governance roles on behalf of the members of the US-ASEAN Business Council.
The Council's Corporate Governance Principles and committee charters are aligned with best practices and regulatory expectations, building upon a longstanding foundation of governance principles adhered to by the Council and its antecedents. The Board acknowledges the dynamic nature of governance principles and commits to periodically reassessing these principles in response to evolving circumstances and the unique challenges of fostering US-ASEAN business relations.
