Walter was formerly Founder and CEO at Daana Technologies, Inc. a tech company developing vehicles to channel institutional and other capital to sustainable projects around the world that have positive impacts on society and the planet. Prior to that, Walter was the co-founder of a Dubai, UAE- based investment company focusing on renewable energy projects in Europe, Africa and the Middle East. During the Obama Administration, Walter served as the United States Executive Director and Chief-of Mission to the African Development Bank (AfDB), a position for which he was nominated by President Obama in 2009 and confirmed by the U.S. States Senate. Walter represented the U.S. on the AfDB Board of Directors, served as Chairman of the Audit Committee, and Vice-Chairman of both the Ethics, and the Development Effectiveness Committees.

Earlier in his career, Walter spent nearly 14 years at the Overseas Private Investment Corporation (OPIC) in Washington, DC in both the Finance and Investment Development Departments. In the Finance Department, he closed several projects around the world in sectors including financial services, transportation, energy and manufacturing, and in countries as varied as Romania, Vietnam, Ghana, Peru, Russia, Bangladesh and Thailand.

Earlier, as an OPIC Investment Development Manager, Walter was responsible, at different times, for the Middle East, Africa, Asia and Latin America. Walter helped lead OPIC’s participation in supporting the Oslo Peace Accords, and immediately following the election of Nelson Mandela in 1994, OPIC’S programs to finance U.S. private sector investments in South Africa. Walter has served on several Boards of Directors for both NYSE and NASDAQ companies. He is currently on three corporate boards focusing on fintech, payments processing and other sectors. Walter has also been Audit Committee Chairman for many of the corporate boards, as well as the SEC “financial expert.”

Walter has lectured at several colleges and universities, including at Harvard Law School and Howard University, he has been “featured” or “keynote” speaker at numerous conferences worldwide, including at the first MENA Summit in Casablanca, Morocco and at the Shanghai China Institutes for International Studies in Shanghai, China. Walter was also asked by the Shanghai Social Sciences Academy to prepare a paper analyzing the outcome of the U.S. 2016 presidential election. Walter has also been featured on BBC’s “Panorama” to discuss the Arab Spring. Walter Jones is a graduate of Princeton University, the Princeton University School of Public and International Affairs, Harvard Law School, and the George Washington University School of Business and Management. He is admitted to the Bars of Washington, DC, Pennsylvania and the Supreme Court of Pennsylvania, and is a Certified Corporate Director from the UCLA Anderson School of Business.
