Special Projects
About Special Projects
In addition to implementing regular programming and advocacy efforts, the US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) also drives strategic initiatives through Special Projects designed to support its members' business objectives and programs across ASEAN. These projects supplement, and do not duplicate, regular workplan programs. Since 2024, USABC has initiated more than 60 Special Projects across various industries and countries both in the U.S. and across ASEAN countries. Special Projects are co-developed with supporting member companies and can take various forms, including research studies and reports, advocacy projects and campaigns, workshops, roundtable and events, and other tailored services. USABC is a member-driven organization and stands ready to support the unique and evolving interests of its members through Special Projects.

Special Projects are strategic initiatives not typically included as part of regular programming. They are developed and implemented by USABC with input and support from members. Special Projects emphasize a member-focused and value-added approach. These projects supplement, and do not duplicate, regular workplan programs. To maintain operational continuity, they must be non-disruptive and not interfere with existing programs. Funding will primarily come from additional financial support from members and/or partners. Additionally, all projects must strictly comply with the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act (FCPA).
Special projects can take various forms of activities include research studies and reports, such as policy papers, white papers, case studies, and analytical reports; advocacy projects addressing issues affecting members or the industry, particularly policies that may impact business operations and investments; events that encompass many formats including workshops, tours, roundtables, galas, and seminars. Additionally, tailored services offer customized member-specific solutions.
Companies and organizations may contact USABC’s Strategic Initiatives Team or their respective USABC country representatives or industry committee representatives to discuss an idea and propose a project for review and development with USABC. An early step is determining which other member companies, if any, wish to support a given project.
The priorities of Special Projects include the priorities of the US-ASEAN relationship, ongoing policy developments, and others. Special Projects may also work on initiatives in collaboration with partners to further the specific goals of certain projects accordingly.
