US Ambassador to Singapore Begins Tenure
On November 6, newly appointed US Ambassador Dr Anjani K Sinha arrived in Singapore to begin his tenure. 11 days later, he presented his credentials to President Tharman Shanmugaratnam at the Istana. In a separate statement, Dr Sinha said that he looks forward to deepening US-Singapore ties, specifically in the areas of technology, energy, and security. During President’ Trump’s first term from 2017 to 2021, the Unites States had no Ambassador to Singapore, and the mission was led by a Charge d’Affaires. Dr Sinha’s appointment underscores Washington’s ongoing commitment to advancing shared priorities with Singapore, particularly in economic cooperation and regional security.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Sinha practiced as an orthopedic surgeon in the United States. He earned his medical degree from MGM Medical School and Delhi University in India, where he also completed a master’s degree in orthopedic surgery. Hailing from Florida, he is also said to be a long-time friend of President Donald Trump.
