On September 15 the US-ASEAN Business Council and the U.S. Chamber of Commerce hosted H.E. Daw Aung San Suu Kyi during her historic visit to Washington, D.C. One day after President Obama announced he would lift remaining sanctions on Myanmar, the State Counsellor and Minister of Foreign Affairs made her strongest case yet for the economic benefits of high-quality American investment.
During its annual Philippines Business Mission, the US-ASEAN Business Council co-hosted with AmCham Philippines a breakfast where the guest of honor was Vice President Leni Robredo. Among AmCham Philippines officers attending the breakfast was Rick Santos, President. The US-ASEAN Business Council met with Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha during its annual Thailand Business Mission. The mission was co-led by Brad Middleton, Managing Director of Chevron Asia South; Alexander Feldman, President and CEO of the US-ASEAN Business Council; and Ambassador Michael Michalak, Senior Vice President and Regional Managing Director of the US-ASEAN Business Council.
The US-ASEAN Business Council hosted Ben Rhodes, Assistant to the President and Deputy National Security Advisor for Strategic Communications and Speechwriting, for a discussion at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, DC. Mr. Rhodes offered a comprehensive readout on President Obama's recent trip to Vietnam, the upcoming visit by Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong of Singapore, and the President's forthcoming trip to Laos in September.
