
The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) will host a workshop titled “Securing Malaysia’s Digital Future: Navigating Cybersecurity Policy Against the Backdrop of New Emerging Technologies” in Kuala Lumpur. This event is part of USABC’s bilateral capacity-building series to promote knowledge-sharing between ASEAN and U.S. stakeholders, following its first session in Jakarta in 2024.

As part of the Council’s commitment to fostering meaningful engagement with key ASEAN stakeholders amid shifting geopolitics and commercial relations, the US-ASEAN Business Council is pleased to host a roundtable with Ambassador José Luis Guterres, Timor-Leste's Ambassador to the United States. This discussion will cover the following topics: Timor-Leste's pending ASEAN accession, slated for October Domestic developments and investment climate, including discussions around Timor-Leste's public & private sectors, diplomacy, and business environment Trade, tariffs, and industry growth, with a focus on energy resources, food & agriculture, and eco-tourism Ambassador Guterres will share insights on Timor-Leste's current economic outlook and recent engagements with the U.S. Government and private sector, followed by an open dialogue with the Council’s members. During the discussions, member companies will have the chance to discuss the implications of Timor-Leste's ASEAN accession, raise challenges and opportunities for their industries, and explore avenues for strengthening bilateral trade and investments.

Important Changes in Technical Standards and Product Quality Laws: What U.S. Businesses Should Know

This event will begin with a roundtable featuring officials from the Embassy of Indonesia, Indonesia desk officers, and member companies, offering a special opportunity for participants to discuss priorities in Indonesia and help facilitate future relationships. Following the roundtable, USABC will host a farewell reception for Chargé d'Affaires at the Embassy of Indonesia Sade Bimantara as he departs his post in D.C.
