Vietnam Approves New Industry Development Plan
On May 13, Vietnamese Deputy Prime Minister Ho Quoc Dung signed Decision No. 840/QD-TTg, promulgating the Digital Technology Industry Development Plan for 2026-2030, with a vision to 2045. The plan seeks to advance policy enablers and other mechanisms to support Vietnam’s digital technology industry, emphasizing the importance of research and manufacturing of digital products and services, AI, and semiconductors.
By 2030, Vietnam aims to achieve US$300 billion in total digital technology industry revenue, with average annual growth of 12% or higher, and establish 16-20 concentrated digital technology zones. Vietnam has also set targets to reach US$55 billion in annual export revenue from digital technology products and services by Vietnamese firms and become more established in higher-value segments of the global supply chain. In 2025, Vietnam’s digital technology industry revenue reached approximately US$198 billion, a 26% increase its prior year revenue. The new industry plan aligns with broader government efforts, including Resolution No. 57-NQ/TW, to establish Vietnam as a leading regional digital hub.
