Themed “Adapt, Upskill, Excel: Building ASEAN SMEs’ Resilience with the ASEAN SME Academy 2.0,” the launch is the climax of a revamp project that began in 2021, aimed to introduce and publicise the upgrades and new features of the ASEAN SME Academy 2.0 website. The hybrid launch was hosted in the Philippine Trade Training Center Hall in Manila and live streamed via Zoom Webinar, YouTube, and Facebook to audiences across Southeast Asia.

The two-day forum brought together senior U.S. government officials, corporate executives, and top scholars to discuss the most critical challenges and opportunities facing the region. Participants contributed to a variety of panel discussions, fireside chats, and keynote speeches on topics ranging from regional economic recovery to the clean energy transition.

(Hanoi) – The US-ASEAN Business Council (USABC) hosted the second country level instalment of its Travel Reopening Roadshow Series in Vietnam on Wednesday, March 23. The 3-hour virtual event convened stakeholders from the business community, travel ecosystem, and Government of Vietnam across 3 panel sessions to discuss: Data Driven Models for Designing Safe Travel Protocols; Facets of a Digitally Enabled Travel Economy; and Trends and Themes Shaping the Post Pandemic Travel Industry. The Vietnam roadshow follows the Council’s annual Vietnam Business Mission, and Health & Life Sciences Mission to Vietnam which were recently conducted March 8-11 in Hanoi.

(Washington, DC) The Board of Directors, members and staff of the US-ASEAN Business Council convey their deep condolences to the Albright family, the American people, and friends in ASEAN and beyond on the passing of the 64th U.S. Secretary of State and the 20th U.S. Ambassador to the United Nations, Madeleine K. Albright.
Throughout her career, Secretary Albright was a true friend of Southeast Asia and the Council. She championed the U.S.-Vietnam relationship as Secretary of State, going above and beyond to advocate for Pete Peterson’s confirmation as the first U.S. Ambassador to Vietnam after the normalization of relations, and she opened the U.S. Consulate General in Ho Chi Minh City within the first few months of becoming Secretary of State in 1997. After her time as a public servant, Secretary Albright promoted responsible investment in Myanmar after its economic reopening in 2011.
(Jakarta)–The US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC), the U.S. Government through the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID), and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) announced a plan to redesign the ASEAN SME Academy, an ongoing e-learning platform for micro-, small-, and medium-sized enterprises (MSMEs) in Southeast Asia initially launched in 2016.
Managed by the ASEAN Coordinating Committee on Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (ACCMSME) under the leadership of the Philippines Department of Trade and Industry — Bureau of Small and Medium Enterprise Development (DTI-BSMED), the Academy features interactive online courses in finance, branding, marketing, trade, and technology to accelerate MSMEs’ growth and equip them for success in the aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic.
(Hanoi) - From March 10 to March 11, 2022, the US-ASEAN Business Council (the Council) led a delegation of 13 U.S. companies on the 2022 Health & Life Sciences Mission to Vietnam, directly following the 2022 Vietnam Business Mission. The Council's delegation met with government officials and key stakeholders across key ministries and agencies to discuss Vietnam’s healthcare system and COVID-19 recovery. The mission was co-led by the Council’s Senior Vice President & Regional Managing Director Ambassador Michael W. Michalak; and GE’s CEO and Chair of the Council’s Vietnam Committee Son Pham.
(Singapore) - One of the biggest threats facing young adults today is the risk of road crashes and injuries related to alcohol consumption. In the Asia Pacific region, road crashes claim the lives of 2,000 people each day; up to one-third of fatal road collisions involve alcohol as a contributing factor, and those at highest risk are young, dynamic, and promising individuals who are just getting started on building their future.
