With the signing of the final US-Malaysia ART by President Trump and Prime Minister Anwar in Malaysia last year, the ratification process is ongoing and the agreement is expected to enter into force in Q2 or Q3 of 2026. In the area of agriculture, the agreement contains provisions related to tariffs, NTB's, and standards which are expected to expand bilateral agriculture trade flows. During the week of January 19th, a delegation from Malaysia's Ministry of Agriculture, led by Secretary-General Datuk Isham Ishak, had meetings with the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Washington, D.C. to work on implementation procedures related to agricultural trade. The discussions included technical talks, which appear to have gone well, related to enabling greater U.S. exports of Halal food products, rice, feed grains, and dairy cattle. USABC will continue to monitor the Government of Malaysia's ratification efforts with regard to these commodity groups.
