Vietnam Minister of Agriculture and Environment Visits United States

A high-level delegation from Vietnam’s Ministry of Agriculture and Environment, led by H.E. Minister Do Duc Duy, visited the United States from June 2-6 to advance bilateral agricultural cooperation and strengthen Vietnam’s position in agricultural global value chains. The delegation, comprising over 60 representatives from Vietnamese businesses, agencies, and industry associations, engaged in various high-level dialogues with U.S. congressional leaders and a June 6 roundtable hosted by the US-ASEAN Business Council. Notably, the delegation signed MOU's worth nearly $3 billion to import U.S. products, and engaged directly with U.S. stakeholders to explore cooperation in green production and U.S. models of sustainable, high-tech agriculture. Minister Duy emphasized that the visit was not only commercially successful, but also a strategic diplomatic gesture reinforcing Vietnam’s commitment to deepening reciprocal trade relations with the United States and expanding agricultural cooperation.
The Vietnamese delegation also highlighted their focus on expanding partnerships with U.S. businesses, opening many doors for U.S. firms to receive immense support when expanding in the Vietnamese market. In particular, U.S. firms specializing in climate-resilient technologies, smart farming tools, and production systems may consider developing partnerships, while the nearly $3 billion in deals signal immediate export opportunities for U.S. producers and agribusinesses. Further, the delegation’s direct engagement with U.S. lawmakers and private sector leaders highlights a growing demand for supply chain integration and long-term partnerships, which can benefit firms in logistics, agri-input, and processing.
