Ho Chi Minh City Launches Major Tourism Stimulus to Attract Million Visitors

Ho Chi Minh City has rolled out an ambitious stimulus program to reinvigorate its tourism industry, offering e-vouchers worth over VND 4 billion (USD 152,000) for flight tickets, hotel stays, culinary experiences, and more. The initiative is part of the city’s broader strategy to draw 10 million international visitors and 50 million domestic travelers, with projected tourism revenue reaching VND 290 trillion (USD $11 billion). This effort builds on the 4.55 million international and 21.7 domestic arrivals recorded in the first seven months of 2025.
To further enhance the visitor experience, Vietnam’s Department of Tourism emphasizes the integration of digital platforms for booking and customer service. The Department is also coordinating with other cities to launch year-round events that showcase the country’s culture and entertainment experiences.
Vietnam also expanded its tourism reach at the 19th Ho Chi Minh City International Travel Expo (ITE HCMC 2025), held on September 4-6. The expo highlighted Vietnam’s growing reputation as a travel, cultural, and adventure hub. Recognized as Asia’s Best Trade Show by the World MICE Awards, the event welcomed over 520 exhibitors, 240 international buyers from more than 30 countries, and thousands of trade visitors. A surge of interest from Europe was especially notable, with buyers highlighting Vietnam’s appeal as a part of multi-country itineraries.
During the first eight months of 2025, international arrivals to Vietnam rose by 21% year-on-year, reaching 14 million. New direct flights linking Vietnam with major global cities have further improved accessibility. Together, these developments underscore the country’s growing appeal as a destination for culturally rich and experience-driven travel.
