Singapore Accelerates Green Corridor Initiatives for 2026
Following record-breaking highs for its shipping industry in 2025, Singapore will accelerate green leadership through (i) continued expansion and decarbonization of its Green and Digital Shipping Corridors (GDSCs), (ii) increased efficiency, and (iii) multi-fuel infrastructure rollouts. In 2025, Singapore established two new GDSCs with India and the Republic of Korea and elevated its GDSC with China to the national level, bringing the total to nine. In 2026, Singapore will harness these corridors to conduct fuel trials, develop emissions-reporting protocols, and enhance digital exchanges. The Maritime and Port Authority of Singapore will advance Singapore's position as a multi-fuel bunkering hub through opening LNG bunker supply license applications, launching Standards for Port Limit LNG Bunker Vessels, and publishing Singapore's first Technical Reference for Ammonia Bunkering in Q2 2026. MPA, having achieved a 100% adoption rate for digital bunkering, will continue digitizing port operations in 2026, building on its use of AI, digital twins, and cloud computing for functions such as issuing ship insurance certificates.
Senior Minister of State for Law and Transport Murali Pillai emphasized that strong tripartite partnerships between industry, unions, and government will enable Maritime Singapore to pursue both growth and green leadership in 2026. Singapore has continued to advance international standards-setting through industry collaboration and leadership in international organizations, notably being re-elected to the Council of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) for the 17th consecutive term and elected to the Council of the International Organization for Marine Aids to Navigation (IALA) for the 2025-2027 term.
