Singapore Strengthens Medtech Innovation Through Regulatory Partnership
On October 2, the Health Sciences Authority (HSA) partnered with the Singapore Manufacturing Federation Medical Technology Industry Group (SMF MTIG) to provide early regulatory guidance and support to Singapore’s MedTech sector. This collaboration combines the technical expertise of HSA’s Health Products Regulation Group (HPRG) Innovation Office with SMF’s SME Centre, which offers business advisory services to small-and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs).
Through the partnership, MedTech companies receive guidance during early product development and regulatory planning, along with access to specialized professional development programs. By promoting responsive regulatory approaches that keep pace with evolving technologies while maintaining safety and efficacy standards, the initiative also accelerates time-to-market via HSA’s reliance programs with Australia, Malaysia, Hong Kong, the Philippines, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. As of September 2025, over 500 device registrations have been processed through reliance on HSA approvals, particularly in Thailand and Australia.
This new partnership further supports Singapore’s medical technology sector to navigate local and Asia-Pacific regulatory landscapes, while promoting innovation, production scaling, and intellectual property safeguards to support global market expansion.
